NCY

My parents celebrated their 40th anniversary this month. They wanted to celebrate by spending a day/night in the city (and as crazy as it seems wanted to bring us and the kids along too!). I just love going in the city during Christmas time and seeing all the traditional sights, I know Brooks would have loved this too and was sad that he had to miss out because of work. Here are some pics from our adventure into NYC.

Stopping for a snack - big pretzels are my absolute favorite!
We went to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. I was a little nervous about how Lily would do (you know with the screaming thing and all), but she did great! Before the show she let out a scream and the older couple in front of me immediately turned around. I assured them that if she did it during the show I would escort her out. As soon as the music and dancing began she started bouncing around in my lap and was just so happy. I took her out for a couple short breaks, but was able to sit and watch almost the whole show. I have to say I was impressed with her especially because the show was at 3:30 and she hadn't napped at all that day!
Gracie loved the show too, especiall
seeing Santa and the the Rockettes dancing.
After the show we took a walk to see the Christmas tree and ice skaters at Rockafella Center. The girls took turns in the stroller because the double stroller I had was just not going to work with all those people and snow...

We even got to see Elmo in the city! After wondering why we kept seeing random characters walking around the city (which Grace was not too excited about), Elmo held out his money bag to collect some cash after his visit with Lily...

From there it was out to dinner to celebrate! Grace fell asleep before we made it to the restaurant and slept through the entire dinner. Lily did a great job and allowed me to eat my whole meal - the food was delicious too!

Happy Anniversary
After dinner we walked through time square. Lily was loving all the people and lights, I think she is our city girl! After a long day and no nap (and being on her best behavior!) she finally gave in and fell asleep in my arms a few minutes after taking this picture...
The next morning we took a
walk to FAO Shwartz and the kids had a blast.
Grace really enjoyed dancing and
running around on the piano with her cousins!
Lily loved running and around and exploring the store. Too bad this elephant was hundreds of dollars, lucky for me she settled for a ball instead.
Thanks again mom and dad for fun times
and memories that will last forever!

A Quick Visit

My parents (and Bailey) arrived on Saturday morning (after driving all night) for a weekend visit. Grace and Lily were very happy to see them all and had fun looking through the Halloween buckets they brought for them. While my dad kept Brooks company and got some rest, all the girls went to the park. Grace just loves playing at all the different parks around town. Lily had fun swinging and watching all the kids.
That afternoon we had a great time watching the Gamecocks beat Alabama!!

Since Lily and Papa share the same birthday, we had to sing to them both and have an early celebration. Lily really wanted to get her hands on that cupcake, so I think she will enjoy her cake on her big day.

Labor Day Weekend

My parents and our niece Morgan arrived on Thursday to spend the long weekend with us. They left VERY early so that they could get here on time to pick the girls up early from "school." Grace was so excited that they would be picking her up, and especially happy that Bailey would be in the car. They had fun going to the pool and eating lunch at Chuck E. Cheese on Friday.

Aunt Lois and Uncle Frankie arrived on Saturday from Florida. We had a great time grilling out for lunch and eating baked ziti and meatballs for dinner thanks to Aunt Lois!

Play-Doh Fun

Playing Dress Up
On Sunday Grace and I had the stomach bug that has been going around. I haven't been that sick in a long time and am thankful that help was here when we caught it. Grace and I spent the afternoon in bed together (and in the bathroom) while everyone went downtown for the afternoon. Wish I could have spent more time with everyone!
Brooks is still hobbling around, but now has a boot that is making it a little easier for him to get around. He ruptured a tendon in his foot and will have surgery on the 23rd. Grace keeps asking him if his boo boo is better and has lots of questions about the boot and crutches.

I had to pick up the girls early today because Lily had a high fever, I sure am ready for everyone to be healthy again!

Nana & Papa Visit

We had a great week with Nana and Papa, but they had to leave on Saturday. It's always fun to spend time with them and also a nice break. Brooks and I were able to get some time out together, and with friends, while they watched the girls. I also put my dad to work around the house with lots of projects including putting together Grace's bed and hanging lots of curtains (Brooks was really happy about that!). Thanks again for everything you did to help us!

Nana and Papa spent lots of time doing fun things with the girls. They took Grace to see Toy Story 3 which she loved, especially when Mr. Potato Head lost his eye and then found it at the end of the movie. We also went to the library which is one of Grace's new favorite places. Here are some pictures from our week...

Grace always requests to go to Blackbeard's Cove and Chuck E. Cheese when they visit. She loves the rides, games, pizza and prizes (but is still scared of that big friendly mouse!).
Lily even had fun this time.

Nana took the girls to the pool a lot. They just love to "swim"!

Grace had fun with "her dog" Bailey

We celebrated Nana's birthday by
making her a card going out to dinner.

All Dressed Up

Lily was entertained by this spoon throughout the entire meal.
Who needs toys?

We sang Happy Birthday and enjoyed some ice cream.
Can't wait to see them again in a couple weeks...

Fourth of July

Nana, Papa and Bailey arrived on Saturday afternoon to spend the week with us. My Uncle Frankie, Aunt Lois and their granddaughter Gabriella also came to visit for the weekend from Florida. Grace was so excited to have lots of people at our house. We had a great time enjoying the beautiful weather, hanging out at the pool and eating lots of yummy "4th of July" kind of food.

Grace loves Frankie B!

Grace had fun watching the neighborhood fireworks display,
even though she talked through the whole show!
